Fully opened dogwood flower…..

Pink Flowering Dogwood .. Cornus florida ‘Rubra’.
A broad many-stemmed deciduous shrub. Five metres high and up to 3 metres across, this is superb in spring when the rose-pink flowers (really 4 petal-like bracts) appear on leafless branches. In its natural habitat the height can be up to 12 metres. The wood is used for tool handles, etc. It is one of the outstanding features of cold climate gardens.
